A stallion, large and unforgiving at first appearance, set forth onto this Terra; his fiery pools absorbing the scene, flared nostrils observing the intermingled scents, searching for any sign of inhabitance. There was none.
Kiav had kept to the Earth on this journey, as he had noted that the skies were broad and open, perfect for aerial battle, should he be challenged, and in such observations noted also that if he were to be in the air patrolling the unclaimed Terra and another prospected Pegasus should happen upon him, he would be vulnerable in the air. Pegasi were poor ground fighters, much preferring the heavens to the sod, and found that battles about the hearth suited them much better.
And that was his skill. A fight on the ground Kiav felt he could not win, especially against an opponent free of a set of wings. He loved his race; it was a blessing to be a flighted creature amidst so many bound to a relentless land. It gave him freedom, a sense of liberty when he could simply take to the skies and have time to himself. That was his gift. But he'd always wanted more.
Troubled as he was, Kiav longed for a normalcy; or what he defined as normal. He wanted to be worth something to someone again, rather than his self-sufficient and independent beast. He craved affection from a family; simply speaking he wished he could start his own herd and run under the skies with them as a Leader and protector.
This was his chance; his opportunity to seize the life he'd always dreamed of living. With a leap, and an great rustling of plumage, Kiav threw his forelegs and chest skyward, thrashing at the heavens with his coal hued daggers and screamed his claimence over the land; announcing his Lordship.
After determining the deed done, Kiav turned eastward, setting out to complete the next task as a ruler and protector.
